Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!

My mother said, “My God, Sarah.  You’re doing too much.  I didn’t realize.”

I said, “I’m blessed to have so many skills and opportunities that I can hustle this well.”

I’ve been working parttime for a local Realtor who does commercial real estate.  Oddly enough, spellcheck does not believe realtor is a word unless it’s capitalized.  Hm.  Of course, it also doesn’t believe spellcheck to be a word, either.

ANYWAY, it’s a great job and I love it and I think it’s a place that I can be of service.  Not only to the Realtor, but also to our fair city, as she’s all over a new development initiative to make our downtown more viable for businesses and residents.  LOVE that part of it.  It’s about 20 hours a week of solid work, and HEY, I get to use my Miche purses on a daily basis again, so HOORAY!

It is this BIZARRE world I live in, where I spend my mornings preparing briefings for city officials and then go scrub toilets for the latter part of my day.

I am no longer part of Southern Fried Snark, sadly, so I won’t be traveling to the city that never sleeps in a few weeks.  But those of you going to BlogHer, have fun and give lots of hugs and STAY OUT OF THE DRAMA FOR GAWD’S SAKE!  I’ll see you next time around.

I kind of love this website.

I’ve been doing voiceover work for Dreammaker Entertainment for a few years now, and that’s going really well.  Also, I’ve been doing singing telegrams for Windham Entertainment.  I sang for a little ole man a week or so ago and he said, “You really turned me on!”  And I was totally flattered and he kept going. “You sing so beautifully.  You remind me of Judy Garland’s daughter.”

Which .. of course, I was all, I REMIND YOU OF LIZA?!  Because in my mind, there’s just LIZA who is crazy and shaky and married David Gray, for pete’s sake.  But he didn’t say that, he said Judy Garland’s daughter.  So maybe he meant, you know, before all of that.  Please God, please.

Literally, if there’s a way out there to make money, I’m doing it.  I haven’t sold blood platelets yet, but DOOD.

It has literally been so hot here in the south that we’re all rearranging our lives to not have to venture out of the house until periods of time that have no sunshine at all in them.  Literally.  Highs in the 100s, heat indexes in the 110s, it’s insane.  On days when there’s humidity on TOP of that?  MADNESS.  You always sweat, all the time, and it’s useless to blow dry your hair.  It’s so hot that my house never gets any cooler than 78 degrees, because, let’s face it.. that’s the LOW that day anyway.

I bought Tony roller skates.  I did it because I was so fricking mad at myself yesterday for sucking so badly that I was determined that my child will not be that child.  So I bought him some roller skates, and he repeated faceplanted on them, but laughed it off and would say, “I fell down, Momma, but I get up!”  And I’d laugh and he’d laugh and I’d think, Even my kid is a better sport than my psyche.

He wanted to wear the skates all night last night, around our hardwood house, and I finally made him take them off in order to take a bath.  First thing this morning, that’s all he wanted to do.  “Rowwerskate, Momma?”  And I’d have to kill his dreams and say, No, honey, you have school today.  He’d shrug and say, “Yater, den.”

I bought some pants in February from Maurice’s but I needed another size.  I finally got around to returning them last month, SHUT UP I KNOW HOW LONG THAT IS, and they had to order them from another store because .. SURPRISE!.. no one around here had any of them left in-house.  Well, when I went to pick up the new pants, I saw that their black kitten heel sandals were on sale for $6.  Beau has eaten all of my heels, so this was like a happy surprise.  When the cashier totaled me up, she said, “Oh, it looks like I owe YOU money!”  Because the pants had suddenly gone on sale, so I returned them at full price.  And it more than covered the sale shoes.  BEST FRIDAY EVER.
