Random Acts of Kindness

Yesterday was one of those days that left me realizing that nothing is ever coincidental, and there are SO MANY opportunities provided to us where can be better human beings by seeing past ourselves.

I won’t get into giant details here, because the wound is still so fresh, but I will say that, on Tuesday, one of my coworkers lost his wife.  It was very sudden, very tragic, and very heartbreaking.  He has been in our hearts and on our minds ever since.

Yesterday, I organized an event for our team, both contractors, and we had TONS of food left over.  Typically, the food isn’t really usable again, so you just invite those present to take home what they want and then the rest is tossed. But one of my friends and I looked around and thought, “There is just SO much food here.”

And we had this idea: why not take it to a local charity?

There is a house that provides free room and board to families who are in town for medical reasons.. almost a Ronald McDonald house, if you will.  We decided to truck the food over there, to feed the families who already had so much to worry about.

The coworker’s wife?  Was on the board of this charity.

And they were staying at the hospitality house in the interim of all of the services.

I think there is so much potential for good out there.
