Five Answers to Five Questions

1) How’s the baby doing?
MUCH better.  The antibiotic kicked in around Saturday afternoon and, save the occasional explosive diaper, he’s back to his normal self.

2) You never mentioned your response to his pediatrician.  What did you say?
I was not kind.  And while I won’t repeat it verbatim here, it went along the lines of “You need to understand why I’m frustrated..” and “Rest assured, we will be looking for another pediatrician”.

3) Have you found one?
We are trying to get into one practice that is currently full.  I’ve got another practice to try sometime this week.  But we’ve got tons of suggestions from fellow parents.

4) How’s the house-hunting going?
This is not such happy news.  We found a house that I was in love with, but we noticed there were some drainage issues.  We looked at it again this weekend and examined it closer, and found some workarounds for the drainage.  It was, after all, a GREAT buy.. almost 2200 square feet!  Considering we’re in a 1100 sf house now, that kind of space seems like a mansion.  But the more we thought about it, and the more we talked with our realtor about it, we’ve decided not to extend an offer.  While we are probably a bit more capable at fixing up a house than the average buyer, we would rather not chance a shoddy foundation issue.  I’m currently mourning this decision.. THE HOUSE HAD THREE BATHROOMS.  THREE.

5) Where would you go on a date night?
Honestly?  I’ve dreamed about the food at Dolce since we had a Coven-plus-spouses dinner there some months back.  The butternut squash puree and jumbo broiled scallops often enter my fantasies.  And I hear Bryan’s got some hookup at Monaco for the VIP section.

It’s official: I’m wiped. out.

And I feel silly saying that, because Binja is WORLDS better than he was last week, so he’s finally sleeping more like his normal, four-month old self and less like a whiney kitten.  And Bryan’s been home for, like, almost a week now.  And I’m not in a show.  So I have NO reason to be tired.

Except that I am.  Drained.  Exhausted.  Runnin’ on fumes.

I’m going to try and see if there is any way that Bryan and I can have a date night this weekend.  Of course, it will HAVE to be Saturday night because Friday night, he goes in for his overnight sleep test. (THANK YOU, JEEBUS.) And Saturday-day, he’s got a work day at our local rehearsal space.  But just a few hours without a child on my hip.. especially one that’s been my entire focus for the past two weeks.. ah, I dare not dream.  What is this craziness you speak of, with me eating at my own leisure?  Not having to wolf down food or leaving half of it untouched because I know the fussiness is eminent?  Surely you jest; there is no universe such as this.

AND YOU SAY THEY HAVE LIQUOR THERE?! (more…)
