What I would TOTALLY be if I weren’t pregnant this Halloween.

Our Neighborhood

Fall Festival

This weekend brought our neighborhood block party, which turned out to be less and more than we had imagined.

We were severely disappointed at the lack of cloggers present. See cloggers advertised on the sign? Not a clog in sight. That part sucked. I was so poised for some action shots of good cloggers.

But the rest of the party was fabulous. I think The Boy nearly came out of his skin that morning; could you imagine being seven years old and waking up one morning to find a Moon Bounce within mere yards of your front door? The boys walked down to Hardees for breakfast, and when they came back, The Boy said, “Sarah, they have a Moon Bounce down there. And dogs. It’s basically my heaven.”

It’s so nice to be seven.

Made Me Guffaw

“Thank God she got some bangs, cause you know she got a five head.”

“A what?”

“A five head. You know, it’s more than a forehead.”

And she’s a psychic friend.  Why does no one mention that anymore?

Monday. Again. Every 7 days.

I’ve tried to sit down and write several times this weekend, but.. okay, I did write a long post on Saturday morning, but it somehow got eaten by my site. (Can I just say that as tired as I was of the old layout.. the predictability is something I sorely miss?) In general, however, I just couldn’t find anything worth sharing.

I started having Braxton Hicks yesterday, and I have to say: I’m not a big fan of contractions. Yes, those-who-have-been-pregnant, I know that those weren’t REAL contractions, and I’ve seen nothing yet. But still, they were a tiring inconvenience. Bryan said it’s a good sign that we’re moving along, but I’m all like, “If it’s not the real thing, don’t waste my time. I don’t need the practice.”

One thing that got eaten up in the missing post was how much I loved IMP’s A Year with Frog and Toad. We took Kari along with us, and we all had a blast. I loved that, at intermission, The Boy immediately began “snail walking” everywhere. He sang that song all weekend. It’s nice to see him enjoy theatre, when sports are so constantly rammed down his throat at home.

It was a trying weekend on the stepmother front, more my fault than his. The Boy seemed incredibly needy to me this weekend, complaining about everything handed to him. I have to keep reminding myself that he’s finding his own voice; along with the brand new sense of humor comes a darker side. It will pass; it’s just a phase. But when you’re eight months pregnant, things like that can grate on your nerves. QUICKLY.

I spend every morning with a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee, watching the world jog by outside of my front window. It’s some calm time for me. I imagine I won’t have that time after the baby, so I try and enjoy that now. It’s my sanity, sometimes.

So who actually works today? Besides moi?
