I have been compiling a list of things “to-do” before the baby arrives. These are not the obvious things to do (like: “buy diapers”), but instead are things that will drive me bonkers if I don’t do them beforehand, because I imagine I will not have the time/energy/money to do so after the baby is here.
The list includes:
- Have my toes done. I can’t reach them at the moment, so I will have to pay someone else to do them.
- Have my hair cut and colored. I figure that will last me about three months, so I can not worry about it.
- Wash my car and vaccuum it.
- Get a massage.
- Make a serious Costco run. This involves garbage bags, Clorox wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, regular detergent, Brita filters, and if I can swing it, dog food. (Perhaps diapers.)
- Have the dogs groomed and trimmed and all that good stuff.
- Clean out the freezer of stuff we haven’t eaten yet.
- Restock with quick meals that we will eat.
- Buy a present for The Boy.
So there’s a shortened version of my list. Those of you who’ve birthed before, I ask: what did you wish you had done beforehand? Or am I missing something crucial that you were SO glad you thought of? Share your stories.
I’m all about lists.
