The Obligatory Birthday Post
Category: The Blushing Bride | No Comments »

It’s been a wonderful, much-needed weekend.

Birthday dinner on Friday night was, of course, fabulous. You can’t get that group together without having a fabulous time. You can add to that the fact that we scared off an entire dinner party in the room with us, and it’s quite apparent that a good time was had by all.

Saturday, I got my new toy, a MacBook. I’ve already written about it once, but since then, I’ve marveled at more of the things that this book can do. (You can see some of those at my Flickr stream.) We’ve played in PhotoBooth, we’ve struggled in GarageBand, and I’ve moved everything iTunes and iPhoto over. I’m really starting to become addicted to this little machine.

Yesterday, Bryan spent the day at Merrimack, helping with load-in for Menopause: The Musical. I spent the day doing laundry and basically being lazy. Tell me that’s not a fabulous way to spend your birthday weekend? He came home late afternon, showered, and we met my parents for dinner at Grill 29 in Providence. (Note to all: GO THERE! Such amazing food!!) I had half of a lobster avocado salad, and the stuffed scallops. And let me mention the desserts.. OHMYGOD, they were awesome. (Delle, they have a creme brulee trio. Chocolate, caramel, and vanilla creme brulees. ON ONE PLATE.) Needless to say, I am a fan.

Today has also been a lazy day, with Bryan getting me breakfast and then sweeping me off my feet to buy me some furniture. He’s currently squatting in the floor, surrounded by screws and tracks and other such paraphenalia as he puts together my new computer desk and computer chair. God love him, he tried to surprise me by picking one up at Ikea in Atlanta, but I really never communicated that Ikea is a mall of furniture. He called me in a quivering mass of overwhelming fear, and I agreed that we would just pick out one here.

We almost have a corner of the room for creativity now, which is what I really wanted. Somewhere with a window view, a place not around the tv, somewhere that we can write or create or publish or do whatever. I miss having a space dedicated to that, and now he’s given me that back. Because he is truly an amazing husband.
