For those who live in our lovely town of HuntsVegas, what do you think about this?  I always thought that the Landmark Chevrolet (known then as “landshark chevy” and now as Bill Heard) was as tacky as this.  What’s your take on it?

My Fellow Graduates..

Graduations always make me fondly reminiscent.  I always think back to my graduation, when I wore a dress that I thought was too short (IT SHOWED MY KNEES!!.. if only I had realized that I was so much thinner than I felt), when my blonde hair was down to the middle of my back, and when Josh made us all bawl during his amazing rendition of This is the Moment.  Because it was.  It was the moment.

I wish, as I wish for every graduating senior, that I had realized how much I held in my hand that day.  So much life before me, and I had the entire world within my reach.  I look at that now and want to scoop my eyeballs out.  WHAT IN THE HELL WAS I THINKING?

Of course, this year, it’s nice to attend a graduation, because I really am happy and proud of where I am.  I’m in a relationship that most people only read about, we’re pregnant with our first child, and I’m in a job that I really do enjoy.  We live in a nice house and I drive a great car.  All in all, we want for naught.

So if you happen to read this and you’re graduating, or if you’re just still young enough to change course, please take this to heart:

NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN STONE.

Take your time.  Make mistakes.  Love blindly.  Smile at everyone, especially the people you don’t like.  Recognize when someone is hurting, and help them.  If they won’t let you help them, leave them alone.  Try things you never thought you would like.. so you at least know.  When you feel tipsy, stop drinking.  Be honest; people will respect you for it, even if they don’t like what they hear.  When you’re with friends, order an appetizer to share and put it on your tab.  When people show you their true selves, believe them the first time.. don’t make them prove it to you.  Learn at least one ballroom dance.  Treat everyone, especially strangers, as if you’ve known them forever.  Figure out a productive way to blow off steam.  Thank your parents.  Always, ALWAYS wear your seatbelt.  If you’re cooking, make sure to invite the friends who have no food.  If someone you know is moving furniture, offer to help in any capacity.  At least wipe your feet when you enter someone’s home; preferably, remove your shoes.

And perhaps my favorite: live juicy.  Let it run down your chin.

On second thought, perhaps those are things we can all learn.  It’s never too late to change course, is it?
