You know you’ve made it into the big leagues when someone finds your site on Google by typing in “Sarah” + “biotch”. YESSSS.
It started when I got my nails done mid-March. Tony, my nail guy, told me. I didn’t believe him. He is, after all, JUST my nail guy. And Tony is not his real name. How would he be able to tell? But he got me spooked just enough, so I looked into it.Â
And there was nothing new to report.
We went to Chattanooga, where we ate lots of good food and walked thousands of miles. We came home. Everything was normal.
But by April Fool’s Day, Tony had me convinced. I waited till Bryan left town, and then.. I peed on a stick. OHMYGOD. So, of course, I peed on another one. OHMYGOD(2). Well, might as well have an odd number to prove it.. OHMYGOD(3). So it was official.
Bryan and I are pregnant.
Which is A LOT of why I’ve been so quiet the last few weeks; everything I have to say is usually preempted by “I feel like crap today” or “I am so damn tired” or “I HATE FOOD!”, and one of those would make you all worried because I never say that.Â
We were going to keep mum about it for another week or so, just to be traditional (I’m about eight weeks along), but when we realized I was doing some heavy-duty aerobics in Pinocchio, we thought it best to share it with PJ. Then, when he was done kvetching that I was going to sink his show :), we realized that he might tell other people, too. So we had lunch yesterday to break the happy news to my parents, and I’ve left messages with Jenni (I didn’t get your missed call until this morning, btw), and I think we can safely tell people now.
EXCEPT.. and this is a BIG except.. I am not breaking the news at work. A coworker of mine is pregnant, and it’s iffy that she’ll be returning. I just don’t want to throw another wrench in the works until I have a better feel of what’s happening there.
We’ve been celebrating in our own way.. we call the baby Lil Peep, since it’s just the size of a raspberry now. And because we want to be obsessive parents who photograph everything, we’ve taken quite a few pictures of Lil Peep doing what .. well, what Lil Peep was doing. (You can find them at my Flickr stream.)
I’d love to tell you I’m excited.. because I am.. but right now, it’s more exhaustion and overwhelmed than anything else. Bryan is ecstatic. It’s funny to see him be so excited.
But between waiting lists for daycares and prenatal vitamins and CONSTIPATION, a baby seems so far away.
So I promise here to be quite honest about the ups and downs of pregnancy. I feel like I was pretty well-prepared, between Ronda and Delle and Nina all having babies in the last year or so, but some readers may not be so fortunate.
And everyone should revel in the infrequency of my bowel movements.
I know that it’s a horrible tragedy to make a point from, but I thought it was pretty cool that the students at Virginia Tech became the most valuable and reliable newssource yesterday, due to their camera phones and networking sites.
