Last night, during our five-minute break at rehearsal:

Some Child: Sarah, I didn’t know you were Mayzie.
Me: Yep, I was Mayzie.
SC: You were awesome!
Me: Thanks!  It was a great show to be a part of.  We had so much..
SC: I would’ve never guessed it was you.  I thought she was mexican.
Me: … huh?
SC: I thought the girl who played Mayzie was latino.  Mexican.  Latina.  Whatever.
Me: Um, no.. I’m pale and redheaded.  Not mexican.
SC: Man, I was just sure she was mexican.  But you were good too.

A lady just called me at work to tell me she could refinance my mortgage at a lower interest rate.  “Tiffany,” I said, “I don’t have a mortgage.”  Then she corrected me: her name is Epiphany, not Tiffany.  I, personally, would’ve stuck with the name that didn’t make my creation sound like an accidental happenstance.

Watching a children’s show (in rehearsal) with an actual child is fun.  But when it’s with Mikey, the old-soul engineer who is 3 going on 5-and-a-half, it’s really amusing.

“I’m sorry you can’t find your goddaughter,” he said, when I sat back down from my scene.  “But she’s sitting right there.  You should go get her.”

“It is TIME for you to go be the stepmother,” he said, pushing Steph back onstage.  “I like you as the stepmother.” (I think you’ve finally grown out of Mommy Duck.)

And perhaps the most worthwhile event of the rehearsal?  I learned the ASL sign for “passing gas”.  Don’t ask why.
