so i have this pair of shoes at dillards that i’ve been lusting over for a month or so now.

while lusting today, my neighbor came over to assist me. she now sells shoes, which is awesome. immediate best-friendship shall ensue. when she brought me the pair of too-cute-shoes, i sat down next to an older lady who looked vaguely familiar.

“i like your shirt,” she said. i glanced down and realized i was wearing my seussical cast shirt.

“thanks,” i said. “did you see the show?”

“i loved it,” she gushed. “were you in it?”

i nodded. she asked who i was.

“oh, no one in particular. i played a character named mayzie.”

her eyes got wide. “mayzie la bird?! you were fantastic! you really indulged everyone’s darker side..”

i smiled at her, not really knowing where to take this conversation.

“i’m sorry,” she said, offering her hand. “my name’s loretta.”

i went shoe shopping with the mayor today.
