I don’t know how you mothers do it.
I held Scout for MAYBE twenty minutes last night. And Sydney none.
And I can’t feel my arms today.
Can I borrow some more kids, in anticipation of a sleeveless wedding gown?

“Sunrise, sunrise
Looks like mornin’ in your eyes
but the clock’s held 9:15 for hours.
Sunrise, sunrise
Couldn’t tempt us if it tried
‘Cause the afternoon’s already come and gone..”
– “Sunrise”, Norah Jones
I would love to tell you that I’m actively working today. Or this week. Or next.
I’m fighting to tell you that. I am keeping everything moving.
(But that’s just minimal effort on my part.)
I’m really just riding it out.
For all Shel’s Shorts people, here is the fruit of this morning’s efforts.
I’m just lazy beyond words today. Most of that is because I had far too much fun last night. Any time the phrase “Ooooh, take this baby from me, I’m gonna pee on myself” is uttered more than once through guffaws, you know you’re in good company. It’s nice to laugh and eat and drink with women. Oh, and we read a book. Some of us.
I read the back cover, if it makes anyone feel better.
The world is such a small place. It’s easy to forget that, when such large things happen around us. But the truth is, the world is itty bitty, and you always have to be careful to put good karma out there, because bad karma will bite you in the ass. Just this week, I’ve met two people who did theatre around town “back in the day”, went to MY church, and are well acquainted with my other family, the Lloyds. Very weird. Then, today, I learn that my pseudo cubemate is married to someone who was in Jesus Christ Superstar with Bryan as a guard. How weird, right? And it turns out that I had met him while lunching with an old friend before he was married.. so she and I had a lot to talk about.
Such a small, small world.
Did you know BB speaks fluent dachshund? It’s true. I just didn’t know dachshund sounded so much like dolphin.
And I leave you with this, to let you know how articulate and intelligent some of our local news teams are:
“The Daniel Golden services happened today, and the West Precinct is going to be dedicated in his honor. They also unveiled the Daniel Golden plague at the site.”
Mom to a 5 year old, StepMom to a 12 year old, and Wife to a 40 year old, Sarah Lena is busy. She is a wrangler of rocket engineers by day, and a student and voiceover artist by night. She has an unabashed love of food, local theatre, and beauty products.
I unabashedly use "y'all" too much, I'm a mom and stepmom for the masses, and I wrangle rocket scientists for a living. Welcome!
