“I wish you could meet my girlfriend,
But you can’t because she is in Canada.
I love her, I miss her, I can’t wait to kiss her,
So soon I’ll be off to Alberta!
I mean Vancouver!
Shit! Her name is Alberta, she lives in Vancou-”

“Patience is a virtue, Sarah.
Pray for patience.”
- Deborah Fleischman
I’m exhausted. It was tech night last night. So I’m dragging today. I have a massive headache, and my back hurts.
When I get tired, my inner editor cuts off. Completely.
So I’m going to talk about karma.
Bryan and I are big believers in karma. We believe that taking the high road will inevitably come back to us in good things. And we see small examples of this every day: we’ll be comped for movie tickets because we were in the right place at the right time, or we’ll get a side job out of nowhere that’s highly profitable, or I’ll get an onion ring in my fries at Burger King (affectionately known as a “ringer”). We believe that by living honestly and doing the right thing keeps us in a good place, karmically speaking.
Every now and again, we’ll slip. We’ll laugh at something incredibly evil or we’ll say something out loud that we shouldn’t or we’ll tip under the usual 20% I leave. And karma usually comes back with a little nip at our heels. It keeps us in check. It keeps us clean. It keeps us honest.
And honest is something we truly pride ourselves on.
So when we have the opportunity to do something hateful or spiteful, we refrain. We’ll talk about it later and high-five over our self-restraint, but we basically just keep on keepin’ on. We’re both too busy to be petty. We’re both too fulfilled to spend time on hate. We keep busy to keep karmically clean.
And I’m proud of us. We do well.
In other news, COME SEE SEUSSICAL THIS WEEKEND! Shows Friday & Saturday night (7:30) and matinees on Saturday and Sunday (2:00). It’s actually a pretty cute little show.
Karma. It’s a bitch.
