I have an INCREDIBLY long weekend ahead of me.  I’m trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel.. but, unfortunately, the light isn’t until, say, July 3rd.  And, like, late July 3rd.  As Mayzie is working that Concert in the Park.

I thought, since I had some spare time last night, that I would go ahead and dye my hair.  Let me qualify this by saying: I bought new hair dye.  It was a bit darker than the last go-round, which I thought would be better, since the harsh red of the last go-round scared me.  It was also part of Feria’s “Power Red” line.  Which sounded really good.   I like power, and I like red.  Sounds like a match made in heaven.

The first difference I noticed is that the dye kit came with shampoo.  And it instructs you to wash it twice after you rinse the dye out.  Now, I’ve been dyeing my hair since I was 11, and I have NEVER seen a box TELL me to wash my hair, much less twice.  Hmm. (this is the point that Sarah SHOULD’VE stopped)

Next difference?  A little bottle called “Red Power Color Booster”.  The instructions say to dump ALL (not some, not a bit, ALL) of the bottle into the hair dye mixture.  Okay, done.  The bottle turned the color of blood.  But like, bad fake blood.  Not even the deep maroon of real blood.  Hmm. (again, could’ve stopped here as well)

So I started applying.  I noticed that my scalp was voraciously soaking up this bright red mixture, and my hair was enjoying it as well.  I tried to calm myself down by reminding myself that red dye ALWAYS looks scary.. cause it does.  But then a drop hit my shoulder, and I wiped it off almost immediately.. and it had already stained my skin.

Damn, dog.

I had already applied it to my crown, so there was little else to do but finish.

Ladies and gentlemen.. my hair is currently pink.  Not dark auburn, as the box erroniously labeled itself.. pink.  PINK.  A nice fuscia.  Well, not nice.  FUSCIA.

Is that how you spell fuscia?  Whatever.

So although it may look like I’m wearing my baseball cap in accordance with my new Friday-baseball-cap rule, it’s really because I don’t want people to know that my WalMart cap is covering an easter egg.

I need help.  Is it okay to self-correct color by dyeing it on two consecutive days?
