I hate to be all Alanis about it, but I do need to thank people.

I let things get to me.  I knew better, but it had also been an incredibly hectic week everywhere else in life, and just one more screw in my spine was too much.  I went home in just enough time to leave, drove thru Starbucks, and headed over to my show.  You know, the one I phone in.

I hobbled upstairs to the hair room and plopped down on a couch.  I really just wanted to be by myself, but of course, there’s 20 people or so around me.  The hair lady noticed immediately.  “What’s up, Sunshine?”

“Long day,” I said.  “And I’ve definitely handled longer days with more grace.”

I didn’t want to talk about what had happened, mainly because we had another show ahead of us, and one critic does not a substantial opinion make.  So I stuck with the long day story.

Terri had made bread for everyone in the cast, and of course, we had the whiskey flowing backstage.  I still tried to keep to myself, but really, I realized.. I was having fun.  And our crowd?  Well, they obviously had missed the memo to stay away.. it was a FANTASTIC crowd.  They sang along with us, they played with us, it was totally a great time.

Afterwards, I took a long evening with some great friends.  We laughed a lot.  And, again, they just confirmed what I already know.  And, even though I’m the great and almighty Sarah Brown, I needed that.

Today, we had a baseball game.  And I got my Mother’s Day present.. something I had never even considered receiving.  It was wonderful.  I’m fixing to walk down to an open house, and the rest of the weekend is going to be fantastic.  We close a fun show tonight (I might actually show up for it), and then we start the next chapter.

So for everyone who, whether they knew it or not, made my day better, thank you. 

Oh, and we won the game today!!… amazingly.
