An ordinary day..

Well..

I’m sure you’re just dying with anticipation to hear what’s up in the world of Sarah.  And to be honest, the answer is.. not much.  Yesterday was a waste of 24 hours, as it seemed that every time I fixed one thing, another thing would go defunct.  I might as well just have stayed in bed all day.. but then nothing would’ve gotten fixed.

I don’t know if anyone caught it, but as was prominently displayed on any local news station ticker, “The Anvil Tree — Classes Cancelled Sunday”.  Sorry if no one got the memo. (It tickled us plum pink.)

We finally got some heat back yesterday.  It turned out to be a small fix, and easily done.  But the guy was there until after one o’clock, and by that point, it seemed silly to go into work.  So I did what I could from home, and basically geared up for VM rehearsal that evening.

Then about ten people cancelled.  At 5:30 p.m. (Okay, so some people had cancelled earlier in the day..) And when you have a cast of 16/17 women, ten cancelling means a useless rehearsal.  So, around six, I called the cast and asked them to enjoy the evening off.

About that time, The Boy went home.

Bryan and I just looked at eachother.  We didn’t know what to do.  We, quite literally, have spent the last month or so scheduled down to the hour, and the idea of having nothing to do .. and no pressing engagements .. and no last-minute deadlines .. really confused us.  We kept walking from room to room, as if something would present itself.. laundry, cleaning, anything.. and there was nothing.  So.. we sat down on the couch.  I opened a box of Samoas, and we talked.  It was quiet.  The house was clean.  And warm.  And it was nice.

I told you; nothing’s going on in the world of Sarah.

Now, today, however.. it’s nuts.  I’m swamped from the last-minute emergencies that kept me from work yesterday, and I’m trying to figure out how to coordinate rehearsal this evening (when I need to work late), packing for B’ham, work tomorrow and Bryan’s rehearsal tomorrow afternoon and getting us all to B’ham.. If I can just make it to March 6th, I’ll be fine.

But, you know, March 6th is a long way away..

so last night, out of nowhere, i started vomiting.

i know, you LIVE for posts that start like that.

bryan attributed it to sympathy morning sickness (as i’ve spent the majority of my weekend with my expecting bittertwin), but it was a strange kind of sick. and smells were really bothering me. one of them, in particular, i noticed.. and it was making me heave.

turns out, that smell was gas that wasn’t being burned.

so this morning, i noticed that it was cold in the house. i mean, it’s always chilly.. we have a drafty house with hardwood floors.. but this morning, it was cold. like, you felt it and knew it was wrong cold. the boy, of course, stood there in his t-shirt and too-long shorts (or maybe they’re too-short pants) and told me he was cold.. and i pointed out that there are a mound of blankets he could go get under. no, he said, he’s just cold.

so i check the thermostat.. and sure enough, damn thing was set at 68 (warm for our house), but our current temp..? 51.

our heating element has burned out. and all of huntsville is iced in.

i called work and told them i would be on my way as soon as i can. (i was all dressed, make-up on and everything.. and THAT’S frustrating.) looks now, though, that i’m gonna be here till we can get the heat situation straightened out.

and three people sitting here, in the cold, REALLY get under eachother’s skin.

landlord is out of town. is actually, as we speak, in the air (presumably), flying in from washington. no contact available. so i’ve called heating people to come. i can’t wait. it’s fricking cold.

i really NEEDED to get out of the house today.

but we’ll live. life goes on. que c’era.
