I just don’t understand why he hasn’t been silenced yet. First the Soddom and Gommorah reference regarding the devastation in New Orleans (which I heard echoed by more than one ignorant person, though none quite as publicly), but now ole
Pat Robertson is giving his view on Sharon’s stroke.

So I’m thinking of cost-cutting measures for a reception. There USED to be this wonderful show on TLC called “For Better or Worse”, where couples completely gave up any kind of control and let 10 of their friends and family plan it. The catch? They had a budget of $5000 and a week. At the time, I remember thinking, $5000? That’s it? Now I’m like, WOW, $5K! That’s HUGE!
Anyway, one of the things I saw them do was concerning drinks at the reception. They basically bought liters of vodka, poured them into those fancy-restaurant-bar-style jugs with the pouring spout on top, and stuck some Jolly Ranchers in. So you had almost instant martinis. But I CAN’T FIND THE RECIPE anywhere. I also found a great recipe for mass quantities of hurricanes, which would be fitting.. or we can go with my traditional (and favorite) recipe for punch:
four 48 oz cans pineapple juice
one 96 oz bottle orange juice
four 2 liter bottles lemon-lime soda
one 1.75 liter bottle vodka
one 1.75 liter bottle rum
Damn, it’s good stuff. And, probably not surprisingly, will knock you on your ass.
Other cost cutting measures are needed, though. So those of you who have gone the wedding route before, or have seen enough “For Better or Worse” type shows (like me), what had you seen that you liked? Think elegant and simple for the ceremony.. and then laissez bon temps roulez for the reception.

Odd little sidenote: Gmail will list links based on the content of your email at the top of your inbox. They’re mostly websites that are relevant to your email titles. So there’s one for a bridal gown site, and I’ve clicked on it a few times to browse their inventory. (That site is where I found The Dress at half price.) Well, I clicked on it today and got the error message, “You’ve Visited This Site Too Many Times.. Please Add to Favorites!”
Now, I don’t know if that was the site’s inspiration, or if it’s a Gmail thing, but I found it very rude. I can visit whatever site I want to as many times as I care to, and maybe it STILL won’t make the cut of my “Favorites”. You have to earn it.
Another little Gmail funny thing.. when you get stuff in your Spam folder, the same links appear up top, relevant to the titles of the email.. and most of the time, they’re Spam recipes. Today.. French Fry Spam Casserole. Mmm.
Yesterday was C-R-R-R-R-A-Z-Y. Nuts. I ran home from work, where Bryan had cooked a gourmet meal of Hamburger Helper (makes a great meal!). I ate a little bit (okay, two helpings), then ran over to an IMP rehearsal, sang thru our duet twice, then ran over to RT for the last round of VM auditions. Unfortunately, I was not as good with time management as I usually am and missed the one auditionee that showed up for VM, so we all went out for coffee instead. It was a nice way to end the night.
I’m so glad it’s Friday. It’s been a week. Only a four day week, which makes me feel really exhausted. So much stress. Blech.
This weekend is already slammed with stuff to do. It’s just that time of year.
2006. The year of Sarah’s ulcer.
