Monday, Monday.. what a lovely Monday it is, too! I had a spectacular weekend. It was very nice.
Friday night, I went over to visit with the wonderful Seinfieldians, Elaine and Jerry. She swears I was bored to tears, but I totally was not. We had too much fun, drank too much wine, and listened to too many soundtracks. I really did have a nice time. Then I drove home, and Bryan and I talked till two about life and the general meaning of it. (It was almost an unpleasant conversation.)
Saturday morning was L5Y auditions. Unfortunately, I was exhausted (from five hours of sleep) and groggy (from three glasses of wine). Saw some unexpected faces there, but I had a really fun time. I felt like I gave a very solid, impressive audition.. the best I really probably could’ve mustered.. so if I don’t get the part, I’m really okay with it. And I haven’t heard from anyone over there, so I’m assuming I did not. And again, that’s okay. I sang very well, read EXTREMELY well, and was just very excited to get to sing through the show. Even just singing through JRB’s stuff was enough of a highlight.
Five hours later, I wandered home to watch Alabama squeak through the Tennessee game. Some poor kid at L5Y auditions tried to talk to me about Alabama football.. yes, I may be a girl, but PUH-LEEZE don’t assume I don’t understand the sport. I started with, "Darby and Brown have GOT to step up because since Prothero is out, Croyle’s go-to guy is non-existent.." and he retorted with, "I think they’re playing good."
.. do you like the color of their uniforms, too? Dur.
Steph dropped by for a second, in between being the den mother for the youth group girls, and dropped off "Little Earthquakes". It’s about time we had a light-hearted read. I only got about 50 pages into the book before falling asleep, but it was a good 50 pages. Woke up for the last part of the Alabama game — you know, when they ACTUALLY started playing — and spent the better part of the evening sprawled on the sofa with my dogs.
Sunday was AWESOME. I got up early enough to clean the house and get chores done, and then I gave in and went to TJMaxx for some boots. I finally bought boots. It was a great day for me. But you know, I swear the strangest things always happen to me.
So I’m not a very SLOW driver. I’m safe, but I move quickly. I whipped around the parking lot over on Airport and found a parking space right next to the handicapped space, so I pulled in.. and almost hit this midget. I swear to God. And there is nothing more demeaning than being blessed out by a midget on a Sunday morning. THEN, after purchasing my boots, I decided to wander over to Cuts By Us and get a hair cut. I was bit early, so I sat outside their store and talked on my phone while waiting for them to open. The guy drove up to open the store, got out of his car, and walked inside.. never noticing that he neglected to put his car in park. So, as they tend to do, it rolled about fifteen feet and slammed into another car. I had to hang up with my mother and go inside and tell the guy. And no lie, this is what followed:
Me: Do you drive a purple probe, sir?
Him: Yeeaaaah, why?
Me: I guess you didn’t put in park, and..
Him: Damnit.. again?
Me: What? Well, it hit another car.
Him: Did it bounce off?
Me: .. I’ve told you all I’m obligated to tell you.
Him: Damn, dude. Did you want your haircut?
There was no way in hell I was letting that man near my head with scissors. So Sunday afternoon, Bryan came over and we spent the better part of the afternoon tackling my yard. That was fun. Seriously. We both really enjoyed working outside together.. we should do that more often. Then we rented "Batman Begins" (FRICKIN AWESOME MOVIE.. Christian Bale is twice as hot as usual when he’s the Caped Crusader), and I made a killer tenderloin and potatoes au gratin. We watched "Grey’s Anatomy" and went to bed.
Interesting tidbit — my house has no heat.
But all in all, a very VERY good weekend. Stall is over. Bring on the theatrics.
