I’m trying to come up with something witty, funny, or happy to say today. I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel, though. It’s not that life sucks, by any means. Life is actually very good. It’s just that I’ve lost my light at the end of the tunnel.
I do this every now and again. I call it “stupidity,” cause, you know.. that’s what it is. I get stupid and overcommitt and then I lose sight of the end of “stuff.”
I think what drove it home last night was leaving one rehearsal to walk into another. It just did me in. It was having to switch gears for the fourth time that day, and my gear-switching-lubrication (also known as my “give a damn”) just gave out. I held in there, giving my 110% till we were dismissed, but I got home and had to log back in for work.. and I thought, “JesusGod, woman. You are so stupid.”
To which I say, “Yes, give-a-damn, I am. Very, very stupid.”
This is not to say that I’m less than ecstatic about any project I’m involved in right now, so please don’t take it that way. It’s just that.. well, I miss seeing my husband BEFORE ten o’clock at night. And that’s really the big one. I miss cooking real meals (and because I hate fast food, I’m pretty much not eating), I miss TV, and I miss my husband. Now, we’ve learned that he’s striking Saturday night after their show, so he won’t be home till late; he also will be leaving Sunday evening for his trip out of town, so I won’t see him then either. Argh.
Sidenote: I am SO old. I had forgotten how old I was until I started, you know, ACTING again. And a quick way to lose three inches off your waist is to do a show with PJ Sligting. (Seriously, in Cinderella, I lost three inches in tech week.) I’m quite excited about this show.
Alright, enough griping. I’ve got some plans that will make this next week bearable: I’m going to make homemade bread (farmhouse white is my FAVORITE, but we’ll try some healthier stuff, too). Delle has reported that Publix is now offering fish as a “pop-it-in” meal, so I’m going to stock up on that. And most importantly: Wednesday night is BOOK CLUB.
::le sigh::

Have you picked out next month’s book yet? I am so excited that I get to join in this time. It is really nice reading books that are not required for school!
Well.. sort of, but not really.
I found one I wanted to read, and I bought it and am about 60 pages into it. (My mother instilled in me to read the first 100 pages of any book before I give up on it.) It is A HARD READ. There’s so much thinking involved.
So I’m not really sold on it yet. But I’ve got an alternate, in case.
I can’t wait to see everyone on Wednesday!
I have to be at the Concer Hall for sound check at 4:00 and will be stuck there for the rest of the evening. I may try to look you up before you get too involved in getting ready for Twinderella!
OHDOTHAT, PLEASE!!
Wow, that would make my day, truly.
Read “Commitment” by Dan Savage. WORTH IT, I promise.
OR, my personal favorite, read “The Lamb” by Christopher Moore.
Both books are funny, witty, hearftfelt, and excellent choices.
I love the book you are considering…Don’t give up on it yet!
