Once, just ONCE, I would like to hear about a stomach flu and be mercifully blessed to not let it inhabit my intestines. I would love to sympathize with someone and say, “Oh, I’m so sorry to hear you’re not well,” like Bryan can do to me every friggin time.

I just had some granola. I’m hoping that will do SOMETHING good.

So the issue happening on my PC Notebook is router-based. Granted, I’ve had my router since the things were first invented (no, seriously.. I was way ahead of the curve on the wireless thing), and it’s still functioning. But Knology says because it’s as old as it is (as in, the company SMC doesn’t even register as a known router company to them), it won’t load dynamic ISPs. Like, you know, my site.

I don’t know what they mean. But I’ll go router shopping tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I’m not as fluent in techno-geek as I once was, so I’m going to be left to the mercy of some pimple-faced, braces-beared teen to tell me what to buy. I say this rather affectionately, because (minus the acne and the braces) I WAS that teen, back in my day. But now, I’m the crotchety old lady who wants to get her router and go home, only to realize she has NO idea how to set up a wireless network anymore.

I miss my best friend. I realized today that it’s been before Christmas that we’ve seen eachother for any length of time. To be fair, we’re both very busy people with conflicting schedules, but still.. I find that inexcusable.

(But with Twinderella coming up for me, and Krewe Ball for her.. it may not be fixable any time soon.)

.. okay, so I JUST reread that part about dynamic ISPs and realized.. my Mac laptop is loading the page just fine. Can routers be machine specific? I suppose when they were fashioned from, you know, berries and mortar like in the old days, anything is possible.

Harry Connick, Jr. is coming to Birmingham. Being busy and poor, this means little to me other than I get to hear him on the radio as they promote the concert.. specifically, the first song Bryan and I danced to as husband and wife. God, what a blur.

So lately I’ve been talking to movers and shakers within our little theatre community about what we need to do to make the city more arts-friendly. The basic consensus is that the community, for the most part, does not adequately support theatre here. Sure, each group has their repeat season ticket holders, but we can’t even get enough BTL seats sold to merit two weekends of tours, so perhaps we should look at that. Should we go edgy? Should we play it safe? Should we cater to the lowest common denominator, or aim for quality and content that may fly above the Average Joe’s head? Or can we safely assume our audience is above-par? Just some thoughts. It really is interesting to ask questions like this when you’re in the middle of several shows. You can see how everyone caters to some sect differently.

Before you mount your high horse, that was just an opinion. You’re allowed yours, too.

I just don’t care to hear it.

Going to my chilly bed.. happy Friday eve.

SMC is alive and well in network equipment land. Knology is.. I dunno. Customer support as always, does it matter which company it is?

Supposed best budget router: Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54GX2
    (*est. $60)
Better: Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54GX4 (*est. $80)
Better-er (Im not saying best cuz Ive used none of these): Netgear RangeMax 240 (WPNT834) (*est. $125)

I still prefer my Linksys WRT54G v2.something. Later updates of this model are supposedly to be avoiding because Linksys began taking a lot of shortcuts. ::shrug::

Blah. Its almost 4am and Ive had no sleep. Aegwyn rules my world. So does this horrible headache Ive got now.. =(

Since i work from home on occasion, I’ve been “steered” to go with the Linksys or the DLink brands, but DLink just looks cheap to me, I dunno. I looked last night and will probably be going with the Better option up there. But I’m not sure that will solve the issue.

    Which will irritate me.

She’ll be sleeping through the night soon enough, trust me. In the meantime, enjoy the quiet moments. :)

The BTL thing has perplexed me too. There’s one main problem in my book. Huntsville has too much “old” money and socialite wannabes. Case in point, my aunt. She left at intermission of The Producers citing that “we just didn’t know what it was about”. I asked her if she was one of those people that buys tickets to BTL just to say that you have season tickets and to be seen, while NOT researching what the show is about? I told her if that’s the case, fine…just do some homework and sell or give their tickets to the people that really want to see the show.

We also have a community that is too busy and makes prmises to see a show or come to an event, then doesn’t make it. In the meantime, money issues force higher ticket prices and that turns people away.

My 2 cents that you didn’t want. :-)

I totally wanted YOUR two cents, my Waterpail. I thought that was understood eternally. :)

Okay but Harry is coming to the VBC Concert Hall too!!!! I have tickets like right down front and am so excited!!!!! I love him, I love him, I love him. I don’t know if any tickets are left but you should definitely try. The show is Thursday March 8th.
