Loving the New Camera
Category: The Biotch, The Evil Stepmother |

I know I’m now going to be one of those annoying people who has a camera on them at all times.  Because at all times this weekend, I have had the thing tethered to me.  And I’m now considering the Flickr Pro Account (not till tax return season, though), because I’m wondering how else I’ll be able to store all of our incredibly precious memories that no one else cares about.

In other news, I had a very weird incident this weekend.  It was actually inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, but it did make me stop and reassess my place.  The Boy had a basketball game yesterday afternoon (8-0 season, pics at Flickr!), and we got there early because it was our weekend.  So I had been well settled-in by the time the game started.  About two minutes till tip-off, BioMom and her boyfriend walk in.  They spot me, look directly at me, and then forego sitting on The Boy’s side of the gym to NOT sit with me.

Um.. WTF?!  Now look, I’m by no means excited to be best friends with this lady (I’ve often said I’ll respect her for her genetic ability to procreate, but don’t really want any contact otherwise), but I’ve ALWAYS made the effort to go over, say hi, and talk about The Boy and share in the joy of parenting.

.. okay, in reality, I was just frustrated because I’m supposed to be the one to snub her.  Not the other way around.  I’ve had multiple opportunites to play holier-than-thou and have foregone ALL of them (and you have no idea what kind of restraint that takes a redheaded italian), and yet she takes one.  I was not only frustrated.. I was kinda hurt.

I mean, not like, “OHMYGOD, NOW WE’LL NEVER BE BFF!” (And if you don’t know what a BFF is, you clearly had none, loser.) But just like, “Well, damn.  Here I was being civil, when I was clearly allowed to be the monstrous bitch I am the whole time.”

But, lesson learned.  And I would MUCH rather be the nice one in that situation.. even if it’s sugar-coated, condescendingly so.  Because that also brings me much joy.  Nothing like curling my lip in horror and saying, “Geez, I don’t know.. he just never DOES that at our house.”

Anyway, that’s what I wanted to share with you.  Enjoy the rest of this nasty Sunday.
