Last night was really nice. REALLY nice.
I cooked baked chicken, stuffing, yeast rolls.. it was good stuff. And it took me so long that it could’ve been gravy-flavored dog food and we would’ve gladly eaten it, so I got rave reviews. Then we ran to Books-a-Million to find “Alexander’s No-Good, Horrible, Very-Bad, Terrible Day” or some combination of those adjectives. Bryan will be TD’ing it for IMP as their children’s show this fall. (Side note: Auditions are this weekend; leave me a comment if you need/want details.)
I’m calling Jeff this weekend. Done. Totally am. Biting that bullet. I realized yesterday that Connor started kindergarten this week, and I had no clue. I’m a bad person.
Tonight, much like Steph and her Jeff (Steph and Jeff rhyme!), we are having a date.
I wanted to repeat something I heard on the radio this morning, because it made me almost run off the road. I’m not a big fan of “Moments of Inspiration” from churches on the radio (and I can say that, cause mine did it too.. although I liked mine better), because a minute is not enough time to adequately inspire someone. Especially when it includes such inane drivel like this “Moment of Inspiration” from Decatur Baptist Church:
“Sometimes we wonder if God is all supernatural and all, and I think sometimes people look at me, or shall we say.. ministry.. uh.. and, perhaps.. uh, they wonder if the ministry should be supernatural like God. I think that is a silly notion..”
I’m sorry; what? What in the hell are you saying, man? I will say that for my church; they wanted to reach my generation, so they bought time on the Rocket and WZYP and, occassionally, WEUP. And the “minute” was a story. Rarely was God mentioned; most of the time, it was just inspirational and/or motivational. But crap like that “minute of inspiration” makes me wonder why they thought it was a bang-up idea to stick this man on the radio.
TGIF!
