Morning Dogs
Category: The Unexplainable |

Mygoodlord, they were up at five.  O’clock.  In the morning.  They were insane.  Running, growling, and yodeling (deaf dogs are amazingly vocal.. and not at all normal dog noises, either) woke both of us up.  I had left the cap from my hairspray in a chair last night, and now they were playing floor hockey with it.. no lie.  It was so loud.

“Honey, the kids are up, and they want you to play with them,” I whispered.

He rolled over, away from me.  “They’re fine.  They’re having fun.  That’s why we have two.” he answered.

Why did we have to have morning dogs?

And, of course, they were sacked out by 7:00 a.m., the time that all of the humans are up.

So, last night was fun.  And weird.  But mostly fun.  Bryan took me on a scavenger hunt.  I got home around five, after stopping and loading up with food at the parental house (thanks, Mom!), and Bryan said he had an idea.  He wanted to have our picture taken. (Bryan and I have NO pictures of eachother.  None.)  So we ran to Parkway Place mall, but as it turns out, there is no damn photo booth in that mall. (Although there are some really cute clothes in Express and Wet Seal.)  So we went back to the car, dejected.  But he was not deterred.

So we trekked across the city, over to the other mall.  We found one photo booth immediately, but it was one of those crappy “sketched portrait” booths that “draw” your picture on some really cheap paper.  So then we trudged the mall and finally found a real photo booth.  It wasn’t on.  But he was not deterred.

He got down on his hands and knees and manually restarted the booth.  It sparked.  I was scared.  So we sat and waited.  When it finally booted up and deemed itself functional, he inserted his $5 (for a $3 pic).  And it spit it out.  So he reinserted it.  And it spit it out.  I said it wasn’t important, and let’s just go.  But he was not deterred.

He ran to the nearest store, a MasterCuts, and got change.  It took the ones.  So we finally did it.
