It’s inevitable. The closer we get to the holidays, the less anyone does at work. It becomes very festive around here, very unpredictable, because most of the year has everyone so overworked and tight-laced. But from Thanksgiving to our Christmas Break, it’s all about food, fun, and frivolity.
Which is a nice change.
It really feels like Christmas, now that the show is closed. I actually ENJOYED listening to Christmas music last night. I got back to my home, where Bryan had lit a roaring fire in the fire place, and we drank hot chocolate while the Rat Pack sang some jazzy holiday classics in the background. The house is getting so much better. It’s getting livable.
I figure now I can devote some time to the holiday now, and actually begin shopping. I currently hate Steph because she has finished, but it’s an admirable kind of hate. More like, “I hate that I’m not more like her”. But I usually venture out on Christmas Eve to do that shopping, and I suppose that will happen again this year.
We’re getting a tree on Wednesday with The Boy and decorating together. I love the holidays.
My sister flew in late last night. Yay for family!
Okay, so I think I’ve got an idea for next year’s holiday cash flow.. my father had an estimate done on their two-story home, to have Christmas lights put up by landscapers. It’s a pretty simple house to hang lights on, but the eaves are high, and Daddy just doesn’t need to be up on the ladder. And Sarah won’t do it. So anyway, he wanted to have the lights up before Jenni flew in, so he called this out-of-season landscaper.
The damage? $570. Yes, you read that correctly. Almost $600 (SIX-HUNDRED DOLLARS) to have lights put up.
So Bryan and I are going to do that next fall for money. Cause damn, we are both in the wrong business.
Now that the show is over, I guess I should get to planning.. or at least get some invites out, huh?
