I have the same thoughts cross my mind so often. Last January I created a spreadsheet listing all our debt. After I managed to not kill myself after putting it all down on paper, I made a plan to get rid of it. We are so close to being done with debt that I can taste it. My original goal was January 2010; it actually looks like it may be more like June of 2010, but I’m okay with that.

I’ve been marking the paid debt cells of the spreadsheet gray, and I LOVE that color now. LOVE it.

I will never, never, NEVER let myself get into stupid debt again. NEVER. It’s been incredibly liberating to get rid of it. We’re not where we want/need to be, but I sleep a bit better at night. I’m not in a place where I can quit working yet, but that’s the end goal and this? This puts me one step closer.
