This is an actual conversation IN MY HOUSE this weekend. Not in a meeting, not on a telecon, but in my house. With the man who watched me push out a Binja and piss all over the kitchen. (Not at the same time, and not in that order.)
Bryan: What’s wrong?
Me: Nothing.
Bryan: No, what’s wrong? You’re obviously upset.
Me: No, I’m not upset. I’m making a list of lessons learned this weekend, while getting ready for Father’s Day.
Bryan: .. wha?
Me: Lessons learned. I’m moving forward and pressing on, but I’m making a list of lessons learned so I can apply these principles to my next obstacle.
Bryan: .. hmm?
Me: I’m noting that my communications are not concise and specific enough to work to the plan I set forth. I need to be more clear about my expectations and what tasks I’m expecting to accomplish. So I’m making THAT a lesson learned. Also, I realized that I’m not working efficiently in my planning efforts, so there’s a lot of rework happening. I could easily streamline that by..
