Post Lunch
Category: The Diva |

Every now and again, you feel damn lucky to work in a group where the environment fosters you, both socially and mentally. (Rarely monetarily, let’s just throw THAT out there.)

Today was a ad-hoc going away luncheon for yours truly.  I say ad-hoc because I was talking to Kate yesterday and she said something about “lunch tomorrow”.  I asked what she meant.  I had not been invited.  TO MY OWN GOING AWAY LUNCHEON.

(I kid.  She’s been a tad busy.)

(Only sort of kidding.  I really had not been invited.)

(But that was soon rectified.)

(Thus endeth the parantheticals.)

Today, a group of people I don’t necessarily work with gathered at Ruby Tuesday.  I would say it was in my honor, but that sounds so ridiculous and we’re always excited to gather for any occassion.  Groundhog’s Day?  Potluck!  Flag Day?  I’ll bring donuts!  Pay day?  Iced sugar cookies, comin’ atcha!

Perhaps my favorite part of lunch today was the fact that we all DON’T necessarily work together, so it drove home the fact that we may just all make it as friends-at-work who no longer work together.  It’s possible, right?

The crowning glory, of course, was my homemade going away card.  I appreciate resourcefulness where I find it, and let’s be honest: this means more to me than any store-bought “Congratulations!” card that everyone penned their signature to.

I’m sad to be moving on, but extraordinarily happy to have been part of it.  Cause I know it’s possible.  As lame and corny as that sounds.. it’s so amazing when you hit that workplace pot o’ gold.
