I’m wearing new shoes today.
Bryan was once told that you should start your life anew in a pair of new shoes. That way every step you take is one you’ve never taken before.
When we started dating, I bought him a pair. New Balances, which he’d never tried and is now hooked on. I can’t count how many pairs of NBs he’s got just lying around the house.
My new shoes are Steve Madden sandals with a kitten heel. They’re a more subtle version of a shoe I LIVED in thru my early twenties. Lower heel, sleeker lines. Calmer. Refined.
My mother is coming home from the hospital today, which I am SO FREAKIN’ EXCITED ABOUT. I saw the sadness in her eyes when I visited her yesterday and she said she had no idea when they would let her go home. To know she’s soon in her own house? SO FREAKIN’ EXCITED. One day at a time, sure, but one day is a lot easier to swallow in your own four walls.
Also? My sister and I went to a gym class last night and I made it all the way through. Of course, I turned a lovely shade of plum, but I did it! And I only ran into something once! Of course, it was a large metal beam and it echoed as I chased my skull into it, but I was in the back and no one saw me! So hooray! It was nice to finish something I used to do without taking a breath. Like I’m on the path again.
Happy Birthday, Melissa! (Random love note.)
Also, I was watching this commercial this morning and this lady was making coffee with her back turned to the camera and I was all coveting her hair and she turned around with her coffee to talk and OHMYGOSH, it was Caroline! I love seeing familiar faces on tv. Makes me feel all elitist.
It’s Mother’s Day this weekend. What should I ask for?

OK, i think i totally missed the post… what happened to your mom?
I’m wearing new shoes today too! =)
My mom had a blood clot last week and was hospitalized. They inserted a filter through her corrotid artery on Friday night, and she’s been on serious blood thinners to get stable enough to go home.
And today’s the day!!
I am glad to hear that she is doing better and going home. Home always makes you feel better!
I want new shoes.
