Saturday mornings are evidence that I am slowly (and, perhaps, begrudgingly) becoming a morning person.
Because Binja is kept on a strict schedule during the week (I always have him up and fed by 6:30), he tends to not realize that Saturdays and Sundays are when MOMMY CAN SLEEP IN PLEASE OHMYGOD GO BACK TO SLEEP CHILD. Instead, he clicks awake right at 6:30, wide-eyed and bushy-tailed and happy to start his day.
So I do that, too. I’d rather lose a little sleep on the weekends and keep him on schedule.
I love our house in the morning. The animals are fun and playful, the sunlight coming in through the windows is just exhilarating, and my child is just a chatterbox.
(Sidenote: anyone watch Yo Gabba Gabba! on Noggin? Terrifying stuff that my child LURVES.)
I sweep, straighten, swiffer, and just generally get the house under control while he talks to the tv from his exersaucer. (Yes, I let my child watch tv. Sue me. He loves Flavor Flav and Paula Deen.) And this morning in particular is extremely gorgeous.. our rough weather yesterday has brought mild temperatures and tons of sunshine.
Yes, I would have gladly slept in. But I’m really kinda glad I didn’t.
(But I wouldn’t mind it tomorrow.)
Ah yes, the strange and inexplicable attraction of Flavor Flav; I’ve fallen under its spell myself. I’m innocently surfing the channels, then BAM! I’m hypnotized, and 1/2 hour later I’m all “WTF?!?!”
Didja know he’s a classically trained pianist and trombonist?
Not sure how it happened, but one day R came home and said “Mommy, watch Gabba Gabba.” It took me forever to figure out what she was talking about. But now I know. Dear God, now I know.
