This weekend, all of my Dr. Seuss animated movies came in. We watched Dr. Seuss on the Loose yesterday (which involved some Sneetches, Green Eggs & Ham, and those ole stubborn Zaxx) and this morning we watched The Lorax.
I’m so lame. The Lorax, the damn Lorax, made me cry.
Now, in my (meager) defense, it’s a completely different story now that I have little ones that we’re leaving our earth for. And to watch a cartoon made 20-some-odd years ago warn us of our environmental destruction drove home that we may be too far gone to turn around.
Anyway, moving on: let me highly recommend these DVDs. My favorite part of these is by far the music; while the animation is sometimes lacking (it’s not as sharp as our Pixar eyes are accustomed to nowadays), the music is lush and harmonious, often consisting of Seussian-catchy lyrics and four or five part harmonies. I think it speaks volumes that I still knew every single word to every single song (some, even in harmony) twenty years after I last heard them. The Boy was entranced by all of them, and I’m sure Binja will spend many hours spellbound as well.

I love those old Dr. Suess movies! haha, I was not aware Emily and I could have evil twins lurking about– I was pretty much sure that we were all of ourselves the world could handle. Of course I could just be flattering myself by thinking that. I would love to see you and the baby at Panoply! It would be quite a treat!
I hate that you bought this. You know, I have the whole collection on one DVD. Its boxed up but I would have happily found it and burned it for you. I don’t have Horton Hears a Who though. Do you?
