Questionnaire
Category: The Unexplainable |

Some questions that I’m constantly asked, and it would just be quicker for me to address here, so when I’m asked I can just respond with a link:

How’s the baby?
He’s still off-and-on feverish.  I talked to a coworker on Friday who warned me of a “fever virus” circulating in daycares, but I really think he’s nearing teething.  He’s drooling in insane amounts, gnawing on anything and everything, and just generally cranky.  But other than that, he’s precious. (Y’all should check out the chunky Binja at my Flickr stream.)

How’s his foot?
Still all broke-ass, thanks for reminding me.  No, seriously, the specialist saw him a week ago, and noted that everything is progressing as it should be.  He doesn’t think Binja will be impacted when trying to crawl, but by the time he starts walking, we may have to fit him with a boot to keep the bones aligned properly.

Have you guys found a house yet?
We’ve actually found three or four.  We’ve got it narrowed down to a list of a few that we wouldn’t mind living in.  There’s one house that’s ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.. except Bryan doesn’t think so.  But I’m in love with it (minus one small detail.. like entirely regrading the backyard), so we’ll see if we can negotiate the price down to a more level playing field. (HA!  The puns are killing me!) Other than that, I’ve completely lost the momentum to move.  I’m sure it will happen again when we close, but right now, I’m all “Can we just take whatever’s next?”

What show are you doing now?
NONE.  That’s my favorite question and answer.  While I’m technically producing a show this summer, I’m not totally immersed in it.  It’s so cool to look at my calendar this week and not see a rehearsal on there.

How’s being back at work?
The pay is DEFINITELY better when I’m back at work.  There’s some balance issues I have to deal with (it’s incredibly frustrating to have a day like yesterday, where they call you to notify you that your child has a fever.. but you were locked in a classified meeting and couldn’t take said call), but all in all, life is not bad at all.

And daycare?
LOVE daycare.  Sure, the fees suck ass, but they genuinely love Binja and it’s nice to know he’s doing art projects and whatnot throughout the day.  His motor skills have absolutely soared since daycare.  He still stays at Mom’s twice a week, which is fabulous, too, because she takes immaculate care of the child.  It’s the best of both worlds.

How’s your diet going?
BWAHAHAHAHAHA.  Oh, you’re so funny.  Truly.  I was on the diet about a month, but then life happened and I started eating crap again.  Once we started paying for daycare, though, we realized that we eat out FAR too much (I’m talking four to five times a week), basically out of exhaustion and lack of planning.  All that crap can’t be good for us.  So we’ve taken appropriate measures to cook most nights and pack lunches for the next day.  Honestly, it winds me down to cook after I get home.  Binja bounces in his bouncy seat while I cook, and we talk.  I’ve found it a major stress releaser.. this coming from the woman who detested anything above Hamburger Helper.

OMG, have you seen (insert reality show here)?!
Dude, this season has been AWESOME because of the writer’s strike.  Yes, I am celebrating the return of The Office and other shows.. or, mainly just The Office, but it was also a fabulous time for me to indulge in Rock of Love II, Flavor of Love III, Project Runway, Top Chef, I Know My Kid’s a Star, and American Gladiators.  And yes, I will gladly discuss any of those shows with you.

What book is Book Club reading this month?
A merlot, most likely.  Possibly a chablis.  Or, dare I say it, Boone’s Farm.

What’s new, pussycat?
Whoa-a-whoa-a-whoa.

How’re you doing?  Really?
Really?  I have absolutely nothing to complain about.  Bryan and I are so incredibly blessed all around that we can’t help but be thankful.

Awww, when do I get to pinch those adorable cheeks?!?!? He’s beautiful!

Ditto on having no rehearsal on the calendar. I’m wallowing in my two weeks of freedom before school starts.

@ Michelle — THE PEACH IS MY FAVORITE!! I was totally dishing about that backstage at the Vagina Monologues. It just made me reminisce on my trashier days.

@ Gena — I can’t believe you’re starting school in mere weeks. Are we gonna get you a blog set up beforehand?

  4. Gena Wilhite Says:

Well, I just applied with Steve’s company to see if he has anything. Otherwise I’ll just hit one of the free blog spots. Yeah, I’ll definitely do it. Any advice?
