Even Murphy Was Shaking His Head.
Category: The Mommy |

It was just one of those mornings that really was a Murphy’s Law understatement.

I turned my alarm off in my sleep.  I have NEVER been one to hit the snooze button or even sleep through an alarm, but since we’ve had the child, I continually shut off my alarm without waking up.  I’m going to have to be one of those people who has the alarm set across the room so that I have to get up and turn it off.  Or I can buy one of these.

So, I figure, no big deal.  So I won’t get a shower before work.  Not the first time this has happened, probably not the last.  I figure I should hold some sort of schedule for the baby’s sake, though, so we sit down to feed.  Half an hour later, I burp him.

And he gives a really good burp.

Wait for it..

.. wait for it ..

HE HAS SPIT UP IN MY HAIR.

I feel no shame in admitting that I’ve gone to work with small spitup stains on me.  I have an infant; it’s kind of a badge of pride.  I’ve often changed shirts last minute because of spitup stains.  But to wear it in my hair?  Even I can’t do that.  Because then I’d have to smell it all day.

(And that’s worse than Bradford Pears.  Which Zoot wrote about yesterday and I texted Bryan about yesterday and it made me think about our other conversation regarding the smell.)

Anyway, so I ended up having to take an unexpected shower and haul serious (and oversized) ass.  Just one of those days.

Wait till your playing with him after feeding and burping and your “flying” him over your head-then he burps and it drops straight into your cleavage. Been there, done that, twice. You would think I would have learned with the first kid.

I’m waiting for it to happen to Bryan. I purposefully won’t touch the child (in any playful manner) until half an hour after he eats. Bryan tempts fate even more by flying Tony over his head.. WHILE BRYAN HAS HIS MOUTH OPEN. I just KNOW it’s going to happen. I can only pray a camera is within reach.

Better yet a video camera-that’s a total you tube moment. Sorry Bryan. BTW that baby is precious. I love all the pics you’ve taken of him.

OMDEARG! That old post you tagged about the trees? Love it! We had one just outside our bedroom window when we lived in NC and I thought it smelled like compost. So sick.
