List-o-Rama
Category: The Mommy |

I have been compiling a list of things “to-do” before the baby arrives.  These are not the obvious things to do (like: “buy diapers”), but instead are things that will drive me bonkers if I don’t do them beforehand, because I imagine I will not have the time/energy/money to do so after the baby is here.

The list includes:

  • Have my toes done.  I can’t reach them at the moment, so I will have to pay someone else to do them.
  • Have my hair cut and colored.  I figure that will last me about three months, so I can not worry about it.
  • Wash my car and vaccuum it.
  • Get a massage.
  • Make a serious Costco run.  This involves garbage bags, Clorox wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, regular detergent, Brita filters, and if I can swing it, dog food. (Perhaps diapers.)
  • Have the dogs groomed and trimmed and all that good stuff.
  • Clean out the freezer of stuff we haven’t eaten yet.
  • Restock with quick meals that we will eat.
  • Buy a present for The Boy.

So there’s a shortened version of my list.  Those of you who’ve birthed before, I ask: what did you wish you had done beforehand?  Or am I missing something crucial that you were SO glad you thought of?  Share your stories.

I’m all about lists.

You are right on track with the cut and color and toenail thing, and if I were you, I’d tack a massage on there too. That was the best feeling in the ENTIRE WORLD, even if I had to get up to pee during the rubdown action. It was totally worth it.

I think your list is excellent!

I have so many lists! One for house work to complete before our guests arrive. One of personal stuff like the hair color and pedi. another for the hospital, rememvber phone list (hell make phone list)- one for our neighbor who will take the dog out if we “go” before our family arrives.. I would be so lost without all of this laid out in front of me! Im glad Im not the only one!

Buy a nursing bra…yeah, I TOTALLY forgot to do that until after I had Matthew. Then it just sucked o haul my ass out into public to bra shop.

I will be dropping off your massage gift cert. on Monday. I am such a bad (read busy) person for not getting that to you sooner.

Would you stop? Seriously, I wasn’t planning on doing that until I’m at an unbearably uncomfortable point anyway, so there’s absolutely no hurry. I know you’re busy.. and yet you managed to throw me a shower this weekend. :)

Don’t forget to charge or buy batteries for all your still and video cameras.

Oh yeah, I’m planning on taking tons more. I hope all is well for you! I’m very excited for you!– how many weeks are left to go now?

Thank you notes for all the baby gifts would be nice to have, along with stamps. A cute, shorter haircut is a good idea–in a few months baby will be yanking on your pretty, long hair. Ouchie!
