What’s in a Name?
Category: The Mommy |

Thanks for all the kind wishes and warm thoughts on our good news.  It was a very surreal experience to start saying “he” in reference to what has, for five months, been an “it”, but it’s a transition that we’re happy to make.

(Unless we’re around Jim Z, who firmly believes in the surprise of delivery.  SO NO ONE TELL HIM.)

We’ve narrowed down names, and there was one that I could remember after I slept for eight hours, which makes it a front-runner by default.  We’re going to try it for a week before we announce it.  See if it rolls off the tongue and all.  Our process for naming the kid basically involved word-association from our childhood.  It went something like this.

Me: He-Man
Bryan: Adam
Me: Man-E-Faces
Bryan: Cringer
Me: Ortho
Bryan: Optimus
Me: Gargamel
Bryan: Azreal
Me: Ooh!  Bruce Wayne!
Bryan: Ward.
Me: Ward?  Who’s Ward?
Bryan: I can’t remember Robin’s name.
Me: Dick Grayson.
….
Me: Harry Dick Comer.
Bryan: Sold!!

(No, we’re not seriously considering that name.  It’s damn funny though, isn’t it?)

Ole Harry Dick was quite active during and after the ultrasound yesterday.  In fact, at one point, he was so nuts that Bryan felt him kick for the first time.  It was a big day in babyland.

Unfortunately, that’s really all I have to talk about, because yesterday was incredibly baby-centric.  Maybe I’ll get back to a normal life today.  I’m back at work.. that’s a start.
