“The less routine, the more life.”

Amos Bronson Alcott

I am so happy to be back at work.  Which sounds retarded, I know, but I am.  I’m happy to be back today, and have everyone check my ring finger, and happy to tell about the big day.

So now it’s your turn.

Everyone always tells you that your big day will be a blur.  And I thought, “Nah.  I’m a journalist by nature, so I’ll remember all of the details.”  I was wrong.  The day before the wedding and the day off were so busy and crazy and nuts that I really don’t remember everything.

Friday brought our bridesmaids’ luncheon, where we all had a princess lunch at Chef Green’s on Fountain.  The food was fantastic, as was the company.  We also accepted Delle into the Coven and gave us all our Witch monikers.  I, as you might have imagined, am the White Witch.

The rehearsal went incredibly smoothly, with the illustrious Jenni “Hollywood” Brown filling in as the bride.  It was chilly, though, and we all crossed our fingers for warmer weather the day of the actual ceremony.  After the rehearsal, we all attended a LOVELY dinner, given in our honor by Viv and Kenny Atkins.  It was scrumptuous, and everyone had a great time.  The Boy, perhaps, had the most fun, buddying up to one of my cousins.

The wedding day was a gift from God.  The weather was GORGEOUS.  We could not have asked for more.  All the ladies met at Steph’s house a little after noon to beautify, and we had a good time.  It was crazy hectic, but since we’re all amazing witches, everything went off without a hitch.

I should state here that I was so blessed.  I didn’t have to worry about a thing on my wedding day; for that, I am so incredibly grateful.  My hair was taken care of by my sister, my make-up was taken care of by Ra, my lunch was provided by Steph, and Delle handled all of the smaller details that flew into my head throughout the day.  My father brought me my dress, my mother handled the flowers.. I was so incredibly blessed to have such loving people around me.

My favorite part, by far, was walking down the aisle.  Little Mikey Bincent was meowing from a distance, my father was on my arm, and at the end of my pathway was a handsome man in a tux.  I couldn’t wait to be by his side.

The reception was beautiful, something I never could’ve imagined deserving.  I felt so lucky to have all of those people around me.  Lots of laughter, a few dances, and sparklers later, Bryan and I made our exit.

And headed to Krispie Kreme. (The HOT NOW sign was on.)

Gatlinburg was wonderful, with so many stories that I can’t even get into.  But it was so wonderful to get away and sleep and rest and enjoy eachother without looming deadlines and hectic schedules.  We had a blast.  We got tacky-rific airbrushed t-shirts (we went with the most gaudy design we could find and got matching shirts), we did the touristy “old timey photos”, and we visited all of the Ripley’s museums.  We also ate some fantastic food, laughed a lot, and enjoyed our private veranda (WITH A HOT TUB) at the peak of the Smokey Mountains.

Steph stopped by my house the morning after the wedding and asked me how I felt.

“Surprisingly human,” I answered.

And blessed.
